Audi Melges 20 Winter Series Grand Finale — Get Ready To Rock

11 March 2015

Miami, FL - The inaugural Melges Rocks Regatta is the third and final act of the 2015 Miami Winter Series. Hosted by Coconut Grove Sailing Club (CGSC), the stage is officially set and ready to present three days of action-packed one-design racing for over thirty Audi Melges 20 teams. Warm temperatures and breezy conditions are expected for the duration of the event that surely will deliver some super fun, fast and fantastic rides.

Registration wrapped up Wednesday afternoon, followed by an informative skipper’s meeting led by PRO Blake Middleton of Lake Minnetonka fame.

Over the next three days teams can anticipate an eight-part race series, insightful and educational daily post-racing debriefs, lovely evening social gatherings, a casual buffet-style dinner that ultimately leads up to the big Melges Rocks Party on Friday night where free drinks will be flowing and a rockin’ DJ will be featured. On the final day, the awards ceremony will take place at Shake-A-Leg Miami where the winner of the Melges Rocks Regatta will be named, and the next Miami Winter Series Champion will be crowned.

Leading the Miami Winter Series charge after two events, Marc Hollerbach’s Fu is currently ahead by four points. In second overall is Richard Davies’ Section 16 followed by Michael Kiss’ Bacio in third. Unlike Davies and Kiss, Hollerbach has never won the overall Winter Series title before, so the key to his success this weekend will be a good solid regatta with a strong finish.

All season long, Toronto-based Brian Hill on Atlas with steady crew comprised of John Goller and Adam Burns have maintained a firm grip on the all-amateur Corinthian division lead. Another Canadian, Paul Currie’s Wild Deuces sits in second followed by John Brown’s Blind Squirrel one point back in third.

With breeze on conditions forecasted, the next three days will be really intense as both series titles are still very much up for grabs. View The 2015 Miami Winter Series Ranking (After 2 Events).
