Riva del Garda, July 1st 2014 – The Audi tron Sailing Series is getting ready for its final event. Acts in Naples, Porto Ercole and Talamone are now complete and the series organized by B.Plan Sport&Events (BPSE) in cooperation with Melges Europe now heads to beautiful Riva del Garda where the Melges 32s will be competing for the continental title and the Audi Melges 20s will be competing to crown yet another World Champion.

This is the last opportunity for the rival teams to get over the running leaders such as Valentin Zavadnikov’s Melges 32 Synergy GT and Dario Levi’s Audi Melges 20 Fremito d’Arja.

“No doubt the Audi tron Sailing Series is one of the most followed sailing events in the Mediterranean Sea. Our concept has been very appreciated by sailors, the visiting audience and our circuit partners that use it as a powerful communication and interaction platform,” said Riccardo Simoneschi, BPSE president.

“Every season we have introduced new concepts to improve the events formula and implemented the delivery of an ethic and appealing message. This year such attitude has been fulfilled by the desire to manage a 100% environmentally friendly sailing circuit, it all came to reality thanks to the partnership between Audi and the Torqeedo company that has supplied all boats with electric outboards replacing the traditional fuel motors. Sixty green outboards have delivered a strong message to the sector opinion leaders spreading a new concept related to the sea and clean environment,” continued Simoneschi.

“Events of this entity," says Simoneschi, “make sailing even more sustainable and trigger a cultural change and a new state of mind in all those that practice this sport with a competitive and professional approach. People that in this sense can become promoters of a new level of attention as far as environment matters. We are doing that thanks to the strong commitment of the Audi brand towards such topics.”

The fourth stage of the coming Audi tron Sailing Series will be Lake Garda, precisely Fraglia Vela Riva as host. Racing starts with the Audi Melges 20s on the 11th-13th of July – the World Championship will be on the 25th-30th of August – while the Melges 32s will be racing the European Championship valid as the fourth act 16th-20th of July.

In addition to main sponsor Audi, the Audi tron Sailing Series is supported by logistic partners Kuehne+Nagel and Torqeedo electric motors. Technical partners such as the Ente Fiera di Genova, Nespresso, Olicor. Movidos, Norda and Frantoi Redoro.
