MELGES 32 Punches Above its Weight to Win CYCA Audi Winter Series on Sydney Harbour

20 July 2010

Guy Stening and crew racing Melges 32 Optimum concluded the CYCA Audi Winter series last Sunday with another first place in the thirteen race series. This gave Stening a four point lead to win the entire Division B series over Warrick Sherman Occasional Course Language in second place.

Sydney harbour turned out some spectacular winter racing with conditions throughout the series ranging from 0 to 30 knots. A mark rounding altercation a few weeks ago was no setback for the M32, one of the smaller boats in the fleet.

Guy as the Australian representative of the Melges 32 class used strong class ties with Melges 24 Class President Cameron Miles running quality crew for the series.

The amazing rides and great racing on offer with the Melges classes is being discovered as owners like Matt Allen and Warrick Rooklyn take delivery of their new Melges 24 in time for Airlie Beach Race Week.
