Audi Melges Sailing Series Season Is Back For 2009 And Doubles

As release by Audi - The Audi Sailing Series 2009, in addition to the Melges 32 — the one and only creator of spectacular duels thanks to the great names of celebrity sailors combined with the performance of such a yacht delivers - will now also see, between the buoys — the Audi Melges 20 fleet, the latest addition to be title sponsored exclusively worldwide by Audi.
Triggered by spectacular racing on Lake Garda at Malcesine, the first event of the series is scheduled for 17-19 April for the champions of the Melges 32 fleet, a class that continues to grow in numbers and quality.
In the weekend of May 2-3, the attention of sailing enthusiasts will bet on the whole field in Lerici for the first race in Italy on Audi Melges 20, and will set the stage for the second Melges 32 event. In the very same location, the following weekend of 8-10 May, the format of the double race weekend will be dedicated to both fleets as the one of the new features of the Audi Sailing Series 2009.
The second stage of the Melges 20 circuit and the third appointment for the Melges 32 class will be hosted by Club Nautico Scarlino — another double weekend, on May 30-31 and will host the Audi Melges 20 and the subsequent 5-7 June for the Melges 32.
In two days of June 20-21, the Audi Melges 20 fleet will meet for the third stage in Malcesine, before heading to Cagliari, where 11-12 and July 17-19 will be held the fourth stage Audi Sailing Series, where again the Audi Melges 20 will join the Melges 32 fleet. The Melges 32 Cagliari event will be the last stage of the circuit before the International fleets main event, the long-awaited Audi Melges 32 World Championship 2009 held in Porto Cervo 21-27 September. Audi's passion has helped and fully supported the Melges 32 since its launch in Europe and will have the honor of hosting and title sponsoring the World Championship, the most prestigious event in the the young history of this class and reference point for many owners.
The Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, on the dates immediately prior to the Melges 32 Worlds, on September 19-20, the fifth and final stage Audi Melges 20 Sailing Series will take place. A long, continuous week of competitions will make for the most spectacular sportboat racing in the sailing world.
